My player this week is Dina Ammaccapane

Monday: Stayed over in Springfield MO and finished the last two hours of the trip in the early morn. It was pretty much all caddies on the course with a smattering of players sprinkled about. As we charted this lay-out, the contrast from last week was startling. A wide variety of holes with intermittent elevation changes, fast greens and position placement fairways will test the mettle of those who will participate. One factor to be considered though are the soft greens. If they were firm it would be a nightmare.

Tuesday: Our ball was in the air before sunrise but we weren't the first off. Marcy Hart took that honor having to have her caddie/husband fore caddie to see where it landed. we finished in four hours with ample time to practice around the greens.

  • Time for playing and giving: Dina's annual player/caddie charity golf tournament was not held in Tulsa this year, due to the scheduling, but Rogers seemed the logical place for a substitute. Unfortunately, the lack of contacts here made it too difficult. "Plan B" was concocted and a kickball/softball event has held yesterday instead. About forty participants joined in the fun and over $1000 was raised. Mucho pics were taken and will be posted eventually. The Sarah Lynn Sargent cheerleader video will make it to YouTube. In the mean time, take a gander at this motley crew.

Down and dirty, they played and drank hard.

  • Big money: Thought I've seen a few big-buck housing developments over the years but this venue makes all the rest look pauperish. Wal-Mart, Tyson Chicken and J. B. Hunt Trucking moolah has one stunning home after another abutting the course.

This five story castle-like structure resides on the 15th.

  • Git-r-done: New courses bring out the loopers bright and early to check it out and take notes. Monday was perfect as hardly a player was seen and we had the course to ourselves.

Tat, scribbling a few illegible notes.

  • That'll cost ya: Back in Portland, Teresa Lu found out the hard way about cleaning up your own mess. She was fined 200 bucks when her daddy-caddie failed to rake a bunker properly.

Wednesday: Intermittent rain (some pretty heavy) has put a damper on the pro-am. To begin with, they're only going off the first tee due to a lack of teams and then getting hammered by foul weather is not the way the best way to kick off an inaugural event. We were late alternates and dodged a few raindrops while practicing. By the time we left, the Sun was out.

  • On her way to the top? Danielle Ammaccapane's daughter has corralled a couple more spots in "Tinsel Town". She landed a job with Mattel (hope it's not testing for lead paint) and will be doing a voice-over on the first two episodes of Desperate Housewives for one of the children.

  • Finally seeing daylight: Motorcycle's new laptop that is. Still not online but getting closer.

  • Let's go a few holes: During our stint as alternates, a stretch on the putting green is mandatory and of course, the chance of getting into a game is highly Today was one of those times.

Dina takes on Jenny Gleason and Kristy McPherson.

Thursday: A wicked t-storm blew through early this morning and set the pro-am times behind a 30 minutes. It also took out the Internet connection area wide.

  • Money well spent: My camera has been giving me fits for awhile. First, it was the mode selection wheel not choosing the correct mode, then during the softball game, it would only preview the last shot I took and not all of them. I was afraid it was just saving the last picture but that was not the case. Purchased it at Sam's Club with the extended warranty so when the opportunity presents, back it goes. Many consumer advisors dissuade buyers from opting for the extra coverage but I've used it every time I've purchased it. Twice on laptops, once on a VCR and now my camera.

Friday: More boomers this morning has delayed the tee times by hours. Dina was scheduled to put the peg in the ground at 1:16 but who knows when it'll actually be. We'll be playing till "zero-dark-thirty" for sure. In the mean time, I found an Internet connection still working at Panera Bread (not their own) so I'm working on next year's Hawaii accommodations. With a 90% chance of rain tomorrow and an next week off, we may be here awhile.

  • Our team is red hot! The Sarah Lynn Sargent video is now up. Check it out. I've also added a snippet of Lorena's British Open victory party here.

  • Got in a few: Managed to play six holes before it was called. We'll do it again tomorrow starting at 7:15.

Saturday: The "heavy stuff" pummeled the course just as we were walking up to the 18th green and we never did get to finish. A short birdie putt awaits out return which is scheduled for 7:15 maņana. Talks on whether we play on Monday are ongoing. The forecast is for more of the same the next few days.

  •  Priorities first: As Dina was about to depart the rules official's trailer last evening, a call came with what must have been a very important query from a player. It wasn't regarding the starting time for the next day's round but what time is breakfast being served! Some people just can't pass up a free meal.

  • No room at the inn: Sam's Club conventioneers will be arriving Monday leaving many without a place to stay if we remain another day. They may have to triple-up or more just like we used to do in the old days.

  • The latest update: The word is it will be a one round tournament, unofficial money and only paying half the purse. It is undecided what will happen if everyone doesn't finish.

  • The latest update, really: The final decision (or until modified once more) is as follows: If we finish the first round, everyone in the field will be paid according to score using half the purse. If we don't finish, half the purse will be split equally among all the players.

Sunday: We made our last putt for birdie and finished -2. All the rain stayed South and had many wondering why we couldn't keep playing but a decision had to be made. So be it.

  • Off to? With two weeks off, some of us will just go home and chill but others are looking for work to fill at least one week. I'm off to Palm Springs for the 1st stage LPGA qualifier and will be working for Courtney Mahon.

  • And another thing: I just can't help including Seinfeld references when I find them so here goes. Remember the episode where Kramer couldn't sleep due to the illumination of his apartment by the Kenny Rogers Chicken sign ? Well, Motorcycle and Jaybird had their own "night light" this week (no drapes, just blinds) at the Value Place Inn.

Heard it was like the 4th of July during the lightning storm.

  • How did they know? Word must have got around that a few of us are really "full of it" (couldn't be me) by the synergistic placement of these two critical necessities.

Pit stop in the pit.
