My player this week is Kim Saiki

Sunday: About a 660 mile drive and most of it in the rain. If  any positive aspect of missing the cut may be found, it's getting out of Dodge early when you have a long drive ahead. Rather be working.

  • Out of retirement; But for how long is the question. Chuck Parisi, long time bag toter for Brandie Burton and Kelly Robbins, is back out on Kelly's bag. After making an enjoyable place for himself in Las Vegas he decided to give it another go with life on the road.

Monday: All day rain expected but I hear the pro-am is being played as I write this. A par three tournament is scheduled for the caddies at 4 PM along with the 10K hole in one contest. Don't know if it's still on.

  • Ad hoc hot spot ; The hotel's wireless is scheduled to be installed on Wednesday but in the interim, I connected my travel router to their high speed cable in the lobby so all may use it.

  • Caddies competing; The golf gods smiled on the caddie tournament and it went off without a hitch. Plenty of beer, food and fun. We played a nine hole scramble, with three man teams, in sixsomes to keep us honest.

My team: Bully, Sam and me.

Our opposition: Jay, Motorcycle Jim and Woody. Where have those fingers been?

The winning team: Robyn Rossi, Donna Southam and Tara Bateman. Shot a score of 20.

The finale was for all the marbles but no one cashed.

Tuesday: Our scheduled 6:45 meet was pushed back till noon which gave me a chance to walk the course. The single change was the par three fifth playing one tee farther back. Even though two inches of rain fell since Sunday afternoon the fairly new greens are firm and releasing quite a bit. We only played nine holes, as Kim had some social functions on tap, and plan to do an E-9 tomorrow morning.

  • When you need something done right... For the pros out here there are some things best left for their managers to handle but, for Meena Lee and Joo Mi Kim, signing up for The US Open isn't one of them. Their agent missed the deadline of May third and, unless dispensation is granted from the USGA, won't be playing in the biggest one of all. Heard Giulia Sergas also whiffed the deadline.

Wednesday: Teed it up before the pro-am and played the back nine with Sheri Steinhauer and B.O.B. on the bag. But our day was only partly over having to come back and alternate starting at 4:00.

  • Run! It's the INS; With the influx of many new faces in the caddie ranks there always seems to be a few guys who don't find a job. More attention is being focused on the foreign loopers from Europe and Australia, wondering if they're here illegally taking work away from the home grown chaps. Apparently, that animosity  has come to a boil and immigration officials have been contacted. Rumor has it, the LPGA has notified each member to check if their cadero has the proper visa.

  • Slice n dice; A reception for the Asian players was held at the club yesterday and a couple of extra touches were added. Celebrity chef, Ming Tsai, dazzled the guests with some stir-fry and Annika even cooked up a few concoctions.

  • Not all peaches n cream; Most fans don't get the chance to interact with many of the players, except in a superficial sort of way, and only see the respectable side. Last week I witnessed a nefariousness dimension not seen by many. As Yu Ping was preparing to tee off, she was sharing a hole on the putting green with another contestant and I was retrieving her putts. Customarily, when you collect your ball from the hole pulling them all out is the courteous and expected thing to do, but not for this narcissistic veteran. She only pulled hers out then looked at me and uttered "That's your job isn't it?". And she wonders why few of her compatriots call her a friend.

Thursday: Windy and a little wet but Kim got in with a very respectable even par.

  • Uno proviso; I failed to mention that the ladies who blew The Open deadline still can play if they only win a tournament. Much easier said than done but looks like Meena Lee may give it a run this week. We were paired together and she's a machine. Her highlight was an eagle two on the par four fourteenth. Six iron 140.

  • Go granny go; Kim had dinner last night with Amy Hung and her housing host and could have been quite an experience if they could of all fit into the lady's new car. The congenial elderly soul ( somewhere in her seventies) just purchased a brand spanking new Ferrari! They just happened to come upon a spot in the road which marked where she ran it up to100 mph.

Friday: A blah day overall. Shot +1. We played behind the threesome of Michelle Redman, Aree Song and Nicole Perrot the last two days and it was tough to watch. Michelle and Aree aren't speed demons but Nicole is another story all together. She was slooooow! The player/caddie over-interaction seems to be the problem.

  • Out on a Yim; Sung Ah Yim needs to mark the next rules seminar on her calendar. She was DQ'd for continuing to use a club that was damaged in play which is a major no-no. Sung Ah, I think it's Tuesday in Rochester.

Saturday: A repeat of yesterday but one shot worse. Just can't get a putt to fall.

  • The 'Pinger' lurks; Yu Ping Lin is set to make a serious dent into the money list if she can bring it home tomorrow. My roommate 'Boston Ralph' is on the sack and will be pulling all the tricks to keep her on track.

  • Abominable antics; We were paired with Christina Kim today with, of course her dad, Man, was on the bag. After all this time, this volatile oil and water team should realize a split may be for the best. When Christina plays well everything is hurrah and in your face but when the spit hits the fan watch out. Today it started on the eighth hole as Cristina whiffed a pitch shot out of the greenside rough (went right under it) and made double. By time the day was done, Man was yelling in her face that he won't be on the bag tomorrow.

  • For those in the know; After next week, Icarus may be my new moniker. This inference will only be recognized by the true insiders.

  • Keep an eye out; Look for pics from our annual player/caddie bash, held at Busch Gardens each year, in the near future. Too many to put in the Caddie Corner.

Sunday: Oh, what could have been. But I'm sure you've that one before. We were -4 for the day after ten holes but a double chunk on number two took the wind out of our sails. Still finished with a very respectable -1 for the day.

  • Man at work; Apparently the fiery duo kissed and made up cause Man Kim was back on Christina's bag today.

  • Ring no more;  ICE is having one heck of a time with his communication equipment. First he took his old cell phone in for a dip in a hot tub and now he his new Razer is lying somewhere along Rte.60 in Williamsburg after forgetting he placed it on the roof of his car before driving off. Good thing he purchased the insurance.
