My player this week is Pam Kerrigan

Week off:  Stopped off and picked up my old laptop then headed for Toledo early and camped out at the Knights Inn. Inexpensive and a short stumble across from the Don Pablo's Mexican Restaurant.

The check engine light on my dash, indicating a random misfire, and the anticipation of saving over $100 with a" do it yourself" repair gave me cause to change my sparkplug wires. On many cars this is not much of an endeavor but on my Chrysler Concorde it is a daunting project. The plenum obstructs easy access to the wires but a mechanic in Corning said it can be done without it's removal so I purchased the parts and started in. A couple hours later, and with a imaginative routing technique, the job was complete and everything buttoned up. Just need to have the light reset to see if the problem is fixed. An oil change with full synthetic Mobil 1 finished off the maintenance procedure and I'm ready to roll again.

Finally got my laptop from Circuit City's repair facility in California and it's still broke! Turn it on and 5 seconds later it shuts off. Over and over the same thing. Enough is enough, so I took it to the local Circuit City and they promised to send it to their own repair facility. If they can't fix it the warranty states I get a replacement. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Monday: The morning pro-am went off without a hitch but an errant hole dug next to the practice green severed the pressure control for one of the sprinklers and set it off. No one was on the green but the Ray Cook putter display received a good soaking.

A rescue attempt of the Ray  Cook putters.

Picked up Pam Kerrigan in the parking lot and played in the afternoon Pepsi Junior Pro-Am. It was an all girls event and we were teamed up with the LadyKats from a local Sylvania high school. It was a scramble with the pro hitting from the tournament tees and the rest of the team the ladies tees. Shot four under on our first nine but that's all she wrote.

GO LADYKATS!

Tuesday: Pam was in an off-site pro-am so I had the day off. Not much rest though as I picked up Diane Irvin for a practice round. She is the first or second alternate and, with no need to employ a full time caddie, just wanted to see the course.

Wednesday: Did an E9 (emergency nine holes before the pro-am) and put in a couple hours practice. My day was done but stuck around looking for work for next week. Plenty of players need a caddie but don't want to have up for part of the air fare. They must think Halifax is just around the corner!

  • Golf wasn't the only sport displayed on the practice green this afternoon.

Michelle Estill working on on a tip drill.

  • Don't know if Makaela ran out of clean clothes or it's a remake of "I Dream of Jeannie".

  • Mi Hyun Kim accidentally pulled off the Pink Panther's tale but made up with a hug.

  • Sports celebs were abundant for the pro-am and autographs were much in demand, even by some players.

Thursday: Highlights; Holed out of the greenside bunker on the 17th for bird. Lowlights; Just about everything else. Just didn't hit many solid shots and it added up. Time to hunker down and go low.

  • Pam is not the only accomplished golf professional in the family, her husband, Chip Johnson, has qualified for The PGA Championship held at Baltusrol Golf Club and The PGA Cup Matches, which is a mirror image of The Ryder Cup for club professionals, at The K Club in Dublin Ireland. Pam won't be on the bag for either but, due to the holes in our pitiful schedule, will be present to cheer her hubby on.

Friday: Played better but not good enough. Missed the cut by a bunch but there's always tomorrow.

  • No bites on work for next week but I heard there aren't any local caddies available. I know it's expensive but that's the cost of doing business.

  • There is a special memo out for the players asking to support next week's BMO tournament due to the end of the five year contract with The Bank of Montreal. The idea is to showcase the tour to potential future sponsors. The result? Could be one of the weakest fields of the year! Players are withdrawing in droves. You can't blame Ty if we lose his one next year. I know Halifax isn't the most convenient of places to get to but the Canadian events have been some of the best on tour and it would be a shame to lose it due to non-existent player participation.

  • Don't know if I'll be able to update my site from Canada. This laptop doesn't have high speed capability and I won't have a dial-up number. I will have a Caddie Corner for Canada but bay have to post it the following week.

  • Speaking of the following week, not going to Evian or The British but I may have a gig on The Futures Tour with Anna Rawson. They only have a few events left and the push is on to get into the top five. The Caddie Corner may be originating from the junior circuit for a while.

  • If you miss the LPGA message board you might want to give LPGAFGL a try.
