My player this week is Anna Rawson
Monday: Another easy drive back to where we came from.
Queenstown isn't very far from the Beltsville area.
Tuesday: Walked the course and it's a tough one. Links style
with plenty of trouble you can't see and only two holes that have any
trees. Two years ago the winning score was -13 but 400 yards were added
and last year -3 took the gold.
- Anna was up in the air about playing a late nine and left Morgantown
this morning.. It was pouring down in buckets just about the time she
was to arrive so I assume that was the deciding factor to keep the
clubs in the trunk.
- I'm staying in Annapolis which is a 35 minute commute to the course.
No cheap motels near by so Priceline.com was utilized one more time.
Got the Homestead Suites for $40.
Wednesday: A mid-day practice round and our day was done. All
the rain we had yesterday had the course playing long. If it dries out,
forecast concurs, this track will play much more fair.
- The BIG BREAK V is here signing up possible contestants. Wonder who
will be this year's Danielle Amiee.
- More auto trouble. The bushings supporting the sub-frame that
supports the engine rotted out. $$$$$! Hope I can get another year
before without many more surprises.
Thursday: My last pro-am on The Futures and a morning shift was
much appreciated. One of our amateurs played pro basketball in Australia
for a year so he and Anna had plenty to talk about.
- Anna hit it like kangaroo dung but maybe that's a good thing. She's
going through a bout of sleep depravation only getting about four
hours last night. A good night's rest should do wonders.
Friday: Jekyll and Hyde, night and day, Abbott and Costello,
take your pick. That's the way our two nines compare. Started on the back
with a rendition of Yankee Doodle but it wasn't dandy! The case of the
yanks had us six over at the turn but shot the front minus three. Don't ya
just love this game?
- Yesterday's forecast called for just a cloudy day so Anna didn't
bring any rain gear. Guess what? Started raining after six holes but I
managed to keep her dry enough without much trouble. The afternoon
wave didn't have much precip so we got the raw end this time.
Saturday: Nary a birdie to be had and it cost us. Missed the cut
by a shot. Plenty of chances but fate was not on our side.
- Hate to go out with a missed cut but my stint on The Futures was worth
it financially and the experience of seeing what the other half has to
endure to make "The Show" was enlightening. Hope I don't
have to go this route again.
- A local auto dealer had his wares on display with no less than a 25
car showcase but to what end? No one comes to these events and he sure
isn't going to sell any to the players.
- Well it's off to Columbus for the Wendy's and have to work the lot
for a job.
