My player this week is Kathryn Marshal

Monday: Looks like it will be a hot and sticky week. Luckily, the course is much flatter than the last two. This track has Zoysia grass which makes for an unique texture. The leaf blades are very stiff due to a high silica content and it feels like the old artificial driving range tees when trod upon. Shouldn't get many bad lies if you keep it in the fairway.

Aree's dad fired her caddy last week. I don't have the details but they had a blow-up in Williamsburg that was subdued by the Commissioner . This is what I mean about not working for the player but for the parents. Adam, Aree's looper, was probably  "Mr. Wonderful "after almost winning Nabisco but "Mr. Nobody" after the disastrous final round in Atlanta.

Christina Kim, with her dad on the bag, got whacked with two for slow pay on Sunday. Wonder who gets the blame for that miscue.

Tuesday: Played a best ball 9 hole match for $50. It was Kathryn and Catriona against Shani and Carin. We got waxed 3 and 1! Shani iced it by holing out a bunker shot on the 8th hole.

Looks like Donna Andrews will be out of action for a while. Heard she dislocated  her shoulder trying to break up a fight between her dogs.

Reilley Rankin might night tee it up due to a rib injury and Catherine Cartwright is nursing an elbow malady. This is one sport that's tough to play when you're hurting.

Wednesday: Easy day. A couple of hours of  practice and we were through. We're DFL off the first tee tomorrow and if the forecast holds true, we  will be delayed by boomers.

Thursday: It's amazing we got this round in without a drop of rain this afternoon. It's a good thing too, this course couldn't hold much more water. You could feel and hear it under foot but in most places it would not be visible ,so relief couldn't be taken.

We played " lift clean and replace" and shot a steady even par. Need to make a move tomorrow morning to get onto the hunt.

Friday: Went backwards instead! Bogied the last two holes to finished +3 for the event. The wind is on a tear, so that should make the cut without a problem.

Saturday: An overnight soaker changed the conditions to "lift clean and place" which includes the one club relief and added an extra hour to our starting time. We were last off the 10th tee and 20 minutes before we to tee off a volunteer announced that a 3 hour long rain storm was 15 minutes away. As soon as the it starts, play will be halted and we'll call it a day he stated. Well, about 5 hours later, 5 minutes after we finished, the skies opened up. The front stalled out and we finished play just in time.

Shot a solid 2 under and if a few more putts have dropped we would have shot up the leader board. Maybe tomorrow.

FYI: Aree Song picked up a different caddy for the week and he blew two yardages in a row the first day. On number 4, a par 5, he thought he was o the back tee but was not. Using a driver, she proceeded to go into the creek which was only 240 yards off the tee. On the 18th she  her tee ball in the water and instead of laying it up went for the green and rinsed another one for double bogey. She missed the cut by one. Oops!

Giulia Sergas shot a fine minus 2 the first round but was late for her tee time the next day which cost her a 2 shot penalty. She also missed the cut.

Soo Young Moon, with her dad on the bag, was in a group that was timed during the first round. No penalties were give but the next day Diane Irvin, who was also in that group, noticed that Soo Young was 13 seconds over on the total time allotted on a particular hole. The new rule states that 11 seconds or more is the criteria for a penalty. Apparently the official, who shall remain nameless, forgot about the rule change. The USGA was notified and they ruled that the penalty should be assessed but the player not disqualified. To not upset her during the second round, she was notified after she finished. That 2 stroke put her at +5 and down the road.

Jennifer Rosales withdrew this week after straining her back during a photo shoot for Bally's. She was wearing shoes with extra thick soles which must have threw her off balance.

Karrie Webb will not be teeing it up next week in New York. Seems she forgot to sign-up for the event.

Wonder what Fluff pulled down for working for Michelle Wie last week?  According to reliable sources, another caddy on the PGA Tour, the 2 weeks, he was there a week early to practice, netted him $5000!

I ask you, were else do you get this kind of info? I'M THE MAN!!

Sunday: The putter let us down and we gave back one shot from yesterday. I think the whole world passed us. The course was pretty much mush but the greens were perfect.

Drove to Roanoke VA, about half way to new Rochelle, and it was a smorgasbord of sensual input. The on and off rain, lightning bolts in the distance, the chatter of my windshield wipers (need to be fixed), and the gobbling up of a low carb double Thickburger from Hardee's all to the dissimilar tunes of 60's oldies and pop country. If you haven't tried a low carb Thickburger  it's better than your average burger. Juicy and plenty big with lettuce wrapped around it instead of bread. There is one caveat though. If you plan to eat and drive make sure you keep one eye on the road and the other on the burger. The wrapper and lettuce have almost the same texture. You see where I'm going with this? Well, we all could use a little more fiber anyway.
