My
player this week is Yu Ping Lin
Tuesday:
Played
an early nine with anticipation of playing in tomorrow's Pro-Am. The
conditions were similar to last week, soggy and playing long. Torrential
rain on Sunday turned the course to mush but today's warm and sunny
afternoon may help a bit. Planned
on walking the Open qualifying course on Monday but a rescheduled
tournament nixed that idea. Lucky I called ahead or it would have been a
wasted trip. One of the other caddies, Lonnie
Hellwig, did a yardage book so it will save me a lot of time. Going
over at 6 PM and will probably be there till dark. Wednesday:
Checked
out Lake Forest C.C., our qualifying course in Hudson OH, and it's a
beauty. Very tight fairways and small greens with plenty of slope. Even
will be a good score for the two rounds. Made
it through the Pro-Am with just a few sprinkles. Our team was only -1 at
the turn, terrible for a scramble, but strung a few birds to finish -5.
They were a good bunch of guys though, which makes all the difference. Going
over to play Lake Forest tomorrow but the weather doesn't look like
it will cooperate. Rain and t-storms expected. So what else is new! Thursday:
We
just putted the greens at Lake Forest, too much rain. They were still
quite fast though. We were done by 11.00 and had lunch at The Yankee Kitchen
down the street from Squaw Creek. This is a must sop if you're in the
area. Plenty of good food for a miniscule price. The
rest of the day I'll be watching The U.S. Open. The
Pro-Am was cancelled for today due to the weather. Friday:
There
was a one hour delay due to to yesterday's rain. Shot an unimpressive +2.
They didn't mow the greens this morning due to the wet conditions. They
looked like like fringe by the time we were done. Need to get it together
tomorrow. Cut looks like 2 over. Saturday:
Just
when you think it can't get any wetter it does! More rain overnight almost
made the fairways unplayable. Yu
Ping shot a bogeyless -4. This is the best I've seen her play. We're
wearing out the metal woods the last 2 weeks but hitting them well. Added
a new driver and 3 metal this week resulting in more distance and
accuracy. Another
lunch at the Yankee Kitchen and an afternoon of Open watching. Life is
good. Sunday:
Shot
a disappointing even par. We were going pretty well, -2 after 7, then got whacked
with a triple bogey on eight. Let, left, O. B., hit the tree, on the green
and 2 putts. That's all she wrote. Started tied for 20th but dropped like
a rock. Made
a quick trip to Lake Forest and played a few holes. Resting up for 36
tomorrow. Then off to Rochester. |
